Network

The network settings can be adjusted in the Network tab of ecologOne. It depends on the devices implementation, if all network settings are configurable. It depends on the devices possibility to provide information for the simplified or the extended view.

Warning :
If you change the network settings of your current session, the device will be no more reachable. It depends on the device if you have to reboot the device to make the network changes effective.
Info :
The Slot Configuration has its own heading and is therefore ignored in the descriptions until its own chapter.

Ethernet

To adjust the ethernet settings of a device, choose an Ethernet X sub tab of the network tab. There are two different views of the Ethernet settings.

Simplified view

The simplified view offers to change the following Ethernet settings:

  • IP Address
  • Subnetmask
  • Default Gateway

To save the changes click on Assign Data .

Extended view

The extended view of the ethernet settings has two more functionalities than the simplified one:

  • Different modes like Static or DHCP can be set
  • More than one IP address can be set

To adjust the mode of the ethernet interface. Choose the dropdown menu of the interface:

The different modes depend on the devices implementation, but the following modes are possible in general:

  • Disabled : turn this ethernet interface off
  • Static : use a static ip address for this interface
  • DHCP : get an ip address from a DHCP server
  • BOOTP : To be defined
  • Link-Local : To be defined

To add more IP Addresses fill out the form for Address x and click on Assign Data .

If you want to delete an IP Address use the bin icon to do so:

CAN

To adjust the CAN settings of a device, choose an CAN X sub tab of the network tab. The only setting that can be made inside the CAN settings is the baudrate of the according CAN interface.

Info :
The Node ID is service and application specific. To adjust the Node ID you have to navigate to the System Settings tab and choose the preferred service or application.

Choose the dropdown menu to select the preferred baudrate. The different baudrates are defined by the connected device.

Serial

To adjust the Serial settings of a device, choose an Serial X sub tab of the network tab. The different settings of the serial interface depend on the provided possibilities of the connected device.

Slot Configuration

What is the Slot configuration?

Slot configuration enables the automatic assignment of unique IP addresses and CAN Node IDs when using multiple devices in an application. To enable the slot configuration for an interface navigate to the Network tab and then choose the preferred interface. There you have to activate the Slot Configuration and afterwards click on Assign Data:

Operating principle
  • The device IP address or NodeId gets automatically increased with an high signal at the defined inputs in the Slot Configuration sub tab:
  • If the value of the setting exceeds the limit, the value of the interface does not get increased
Examples:
Before Enabling and applying a Slot Configuration
  • IP Address: 192.168.82.247
  • ecologConnect NodeId: 123
  • CODESYS Service NodeId: 127
Enabling Slot Configuration
  • Slot Configuration set as in the above pictures
  • IN0000 and IN0002 are set to a high signal
After Enabling Slot Configuration

As a result of the applied Slot Configuration , all settings will be increased by the value of 5, because BIT0 and BIT2 are set high.

  • IP Address: 192.168.82.252
  • ecologConnect NodeId: 128
  • CODESYS Service NodeId: 127
