Software

A key feature of ecologOne is the ability to install software or firmware on connected devices. Additionally, it allows creating a backup of an existing setup, which then could be used for duplicating the setup through the restore function. The following paragraphs explain these processes in detail.

Update and Backup & Restore

To read out software information, update the firmware of a device or do an back & restore of an device, navigate to the Software tab in ecologOne.

Reading out software information

All software information that are provided by a device through ecologConnect can be seen in the table inside the software tab:

The first column contains the name of the software on the device and the second column indicates the current software version of that software. Depending on the devices implementation a build-date, a Code CRC and Head CRC are provided. The last column shows which software is currently running as active operating system.
For further information about the Code CRC and Head CRC have a look into the programming manual of the connected device.
Some device are providing less software information than in the above image and some columns can be therefore empty:

Updating a devices firmware

To update a devices firmware, you have to click on Select File inside the Firmware section to select the update file you want to sent to the device.

Warning:
Please check that the update file contains only valid files defined by the device itself.

After you have selected the update file the name of the file will be shown and the Start button get clickable. To start the update process click the Start button.

ecologOne will display a percentage of the update process:

After the update has finished successfully you will see a green success message:

The success message disappears by its own after some seconds.


Backup & Restore

To perform a backup & restore of a device, you have to use the Configuration & Application section:

Backup

By clicking the Start button below Load From Device you start the backup process.

Its device specific what is included in the backup file getting from the device. Please refer to the device programming manual for more information.

The firmware of a device is never getting backed up.


After the backup content was retrieved, you get asked to enter a filename for the backup file:


After clicking OK the backup file will be downloaded and saved in your Downloads folder:


Restore

To restore a backup file you follow the same process as when loading a firmware to a device. First select the backup file and then start the loading process:

Afterwards you will get a success message that will disappear by its own after some seconds.
