Access changes and limitations

As part of the user management system upgrade, access to the mobileIoT Suite is being streamlined to align with organizational hierarchy and security standards. Some of the restrictions that will apply as of the migration, are fixed some are only temporarily. In this section we will work through the restrictions and whether or not it temporarily.

🏢 Organization dependency

In the following the "customer level" is meant as an organization within the mobileIoT Suite, that has direct contracts with ifm.

⚠ Accounts at the sub-organization level that have mobileIoT Suite permissions will be automatically moved to the next customer level.
🧩 What Does This Mean?
  • ✅ As an user at the customer level, you can continue accessing the mobileIoT Suite as usual.
  • ❌ If your account is in a sub-organization having mobileIoT Suite permissions, it will be automatically moved to the next higher customer level after migration. However, if you only have Data Portal permissions your account will remain in the current organization. See below for instructions on how to check your level.
  • ⚠ This is NOT a temporarily solution.
🛠 What You Should Do

Admins:

  • Review all user accounts and determine who requires access to the mobileIoT Suite.
  • Ensure these users have valid emails and roles configured.

Users:

  • If you're unsure of your position in the organization structure:
    • Ask your administrator to confirm your account level.
🔎 How to Check Your Access Level
  • To determineyour level, navigate to organizations in the mobileIoT Suite and view the organization tree. If you see customer details and financial details, then you are at the customer level. Below is an example of an organization properties view.

📈 Dataportal - only users

Currently, it is possible in the mobileIoT suite to create 'Dataportal - only' users, in other words, accounts for end-customer with which they can log into the dataportal. This will, for the time being, not be possible in the mobileIoT suite. After the migration, we will be working on bringing back this functionality.

🧩 What Does This Mean?
  • ❌ A dataportal user cannot be created in the mobileIoT Suite.
  • ✅ One can still create dataportal users within the dataportal itself.
  • ⚠ This IS a temporarily solution.
