Modem settings

Next up is the Modem settings, here there are multiple configurations that can be made here.

Especially changing the Modem settings could lead to a disconnect of the device from the internet and therefore the services
ifm offers you. Only change these settings when you exactly know what it does or will do.

These are the settings that can be done for the Cellular modem:

Enable or disable the modem interface

Options: Enable or Disable

Default: Enable

Description: This option allows to enable or disable the modem interface. Note, that this option controls the modem interface as a whole, meaning that it will disable the modem regardless of individual connection profile settings.

Modem Settings - Connection profile

Connection name

Default: Cellular connection

Description: Modem connection profile name, must be globally unique regardless of interface.

Connect automatically when resources available

Options: ON or OFF

Default: ON

Description: Connect this profile automatically when the resources for this connection become available. When set to false the profile will be “parked” in the configuration, but not actively used.

Autoconect priority

Data Type: int32

Default: 0

Description: Priority for profiles that are configured to auto connect, this setting spans over all profiles of all interfaces where the auto-connect setting is set to true. A higher number means higher priority.

The number of times to autoconnect

Data Type: int32

Default: -1

Description: Number of times to retry to connect the profile automatically before giving up. When autoconnection fails after the given number of retries, the next highest priority profile will be used. A value of zero means retry forever.

The GSM Access Point Name (APN)

Default: mobile.iot.ifm

Description: Access point name for establishing data sessions with the mobile network.

The password to authenticate with the network

Default: <empty>

Description: Password used to authenticate with the mobile network (if required).

The username to authenticate with the network

Default: <empty>

Description: Username used to authenticate with the mobile network (if required).

Disallow connecting to roaming networks

Options: ON or OFF

Default: OFF

Description: Allow only connections to the home network, disallow roaming.

IPv4 address of DNS server 1 .. 3

Default: <empty>

Description: Altenative DNS server addresses.

Routing metric used to make a routing decision

Default: -1

Description: Routing metric, lower values have higher priority. Set to -1 for automatic assignment based on interface type. This option will allow you to prioritize one interface over the other when accessing the internet, depending on interface or connection availability.

Maximum transmission unit (MTU)

Type: uint32

Default: 0

Description: Maximum transmission unit for the modem connection. Setting this option will ensure, that only packets of the given size or smaller will be transmitted. Larger packets will be broken up into multiple frames. The value of `0` indicates, that this option is disabled

eSim and optional Plug-In Card settings

Enable or disable PIN

Options: ON/OFF

Default: OFF

Description: Enable or disable SIM card PIN code.

Current SIM PIN code

Default: 0000

Description: PIN code needed to unlock the SIM card if the PIN is enabled.

Select SIM card

Options: eSIM, Plug-in SIM

Default: eSIM

Description: This option allows to sellect the SIM card used for cellular connection.
