Power management settings

This section allows configuration of the CR3171’s power-saving behavior and wake-up conditions. Key settings include:

  • Sleep Mode Activation and Delay : Control when the device enters low-power mode after loss of Clamp 15.
  • Wake-Up Sources : Configure the accelerometer (with threshold), real-time clock (RTC) with interval, and Clamp signals as triggers to wake the device.
  • Transport Mode: Temporarily disables all wake-up sources except Clamp 15/30 rising edges for safe handling during transportation.
  • Wake-Up Reporting Timeout : Defines how long the device stays active after waking up to report the wake-up reason to the Data Portal if Clamp 15 is not present.

These options offer flexible control over power consumption and wake-up behavior tailored to deployment conditions.

Enable sleep mode

Option: ON/OFF

Default: OFF

Description: Enables the option to configure the device’s low-power sleep mode, which becomes active when Clamp 15 is not asserted.

Enter sleep mode after delay

Type: uint16

Default: 10

Description: Sleep Mode Delay defines the duration (in seconds) the device remains active after Clamp 15 is deasserted (goes low). Once this delay expires—and if Clamp 15 remains low—the device enters power-saving sleep mode.

Enable accelerometer as a wake-up source

Option: ON/OFF

Default: OFF

Description: Enables the accelerometer as a wake-up source; an acceleration threshold must be defined using the corresponding threshold setting.

Acceleration wake-up threshold

Type: double

Default: 0.2

Description: Defines the acceleration threshold (in g-forces) that triggers a wake-up when exceeded; this setting is ignored if the accelerometer is not enabled as a wake-up source.

Enable RTC interval as a wake-up source

Option: ON/OFF

Default: OFF

Description: Enables the system real-time clock (RTC) as a wake-up source; once the device enters sleep mode, the RTC will wake it after the duration specified in the interval setting.

RTC wake-up interval

Type: uint32

Default: 86400

Description: Specifies the real-time clock (RTC) interval in seconds; the device wakes up periodically when this interval expires. The default is 24 hours. This setting is ignored if the RTC is not enabled as a wake-up source.

Temporary disable wake-up sources during transportation

Option: ON/OFF

Default: OFF

Description: Enables transport mode, where the device wakes only on a rising edge event of Clamp 30 or Clamp 15; all other wake-up sources are temporarily disabled. This mode remains active for a single boot cycle.

Timeout for sending a wake-up reason to the server:

Type: uint16

Default: 600

Description: Specifies the timeout for reporting the wake-up reason to the Data Portal. If the device wakes up without Clamp 15 being asserted, it remains active until the reason is successfully published or the timeout period expires.
