Cellular interface profiles

To configure an existing cellular connection click on the row showing Cellular interface profiles.

Within the following overview all available profiles for the cellular connection is visualized. Generally only one profile is needed, but it is possible to create multiple.

To add a new profile, click on the +-sign to add a new connection. The following settings will be same for both options. Only for creating a new connection its mandatory to enter a profile name. When creating a new or a additional Cellular profile, take special care about the Connection priority. The exact description of this item can be found below.

General cellular preferences

On the top right corner you can Reload, Reset or Delete the current profile. The profile name can be changed in the textfield and you can select if the device shall connect to this profile as soon as it is available.

Profile name

Give the cellular connection a unique name, default is Cellular connection

  • Default: Cellular connection
Automatically join this network when available

Connect this profile automatically when the resources for this connection become available. When disabled the profile will be “ parked ” in the configuration, but not actively used.

  • Default: ON
Connection Priority

Priority for profiles that are configured to auto connect, this setting spans over all profiles of all interfaces where the autoconnect setting is set to true. A higher number means higher priority.

  • Range: 0 .. 1000
  • Default: 0
Number of connection retries

Number of times to retry to connect the profile automatically before giving up. When autoconnection fails after the given number of retries, the next highest priority profile will be used. A value of zero means retry forever.

  • Default: -1
  • Range: -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647

DNS preferences

To set additional IPV4 DNS servers it is possible to set three of them:

Operator settings

⚠ IMPORTANT:
Do not change the default Operator settings if there isn't the default Cellular profile, as this will lead to a disconnect of the device from the network provider, internet and therefore al the other services.
Provider access point name (APN)

The provider access point name.

  • Default: mobile.iot.ifm
  • ⚠ Do not change this setting in normal use!
Username
  • If given and required from the network provider, fill the username.
Password
  • If given and required from the network provider, fill the password.
Deny data roaming
  • default: OFF

Additionally there is the possibility to deny data roaming for this profile by selecting the slider button.

By default this should be switched OFF as the supplied SIM card should at time be roaming.

SAVE

If any setting is being adjusted use the SAVE button to store and apply the changes. After hitting the SAVE button the device will do automatic re-configuration of the changes. Therefore a reboot of device is generally not required. If it turns out that the configuration doesn't seemed to be applied, a full device power cycle is advised.
