GNSS settings

Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) is a general term describing any satellite constellation that provides positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services on a global or regional basis.

This chapter covers the settings that could be made for setting up the GNSS service and the used of it on the CR3171.

GNSS Settings

Enable or disable the GNSS module

• Options: ON/OFF

• Description: This option generally controls the Global Navigation Satellite System data acquisition.

Enable or disable the GLONASS constellation support

• Options: ON/OFF

• Default: OFF

• Description: Control of the usage of the GLONASS to determine the device position.

Enable or disable the BeiDou constellation support

• Options: ON/OFF

• Default: OFF

• Description: Control of the usage of the BeiDou navigation system to determine the device position.

Enable or disable the Galileo constellation support

• Options: ON/OFF

• Default: OFF

• Description: Control of the usage of the `Galileo` navigation system to determine the device position.

Information:
The GNSS receiver in this device can process data from two navigation systems simultaneously. Since the GPS system is always active when GNSS is enabled, it is recommended to enable only one additional system at a time.
Enable distribution of GNSS data via multicast

• Options: ON/OFF

• Default: OFF

• Description: Enable distribution of GPRMC and GPGGA NMEA sentences via multicast on the local network. The UDP packet will include both NMEA sentences.

Multicast IP address for GNSS data distribution default

• Type: string

• Default: 239.255.46.9

• Description: Multicast address to which the NMEA sentences will be sent, subscribers should join this multicast group in order to receive the NMEA sentences.

Note
Only valid multicast addresses will be accepted by this setting.
Multicast port for GNSS data distribution

• Type: uint16

• Default: 31514

• Description: Port for the multicast GNSS data distribution.

Send NMEA sentences via multicast not more frequently than every X seconds. Value of zero means 'unlimited' (i.e. as provided by the receiver)

• Type: uint16

• Unit: seconds

• Default: 0

• Description: Do not send NMEA sentences more often than the given second cycle. The value of zero means "*as provided by the GNSS receiver*".

Enable collection and upload of GNSS data

• Options: ON/OFF

• Description: Enable collection and upload of GNSS data to the server.

Collect GNSS data every X seconds

• Type: uint16

• Unit: seconds

• Default: 10

• Description: The cycle time in which the device will take a snapshot of the current device location and store this in the memory.

Upload collected GNSS data every X seconds (should be more than collection period)

• Type: uint16

• Unit: seconds

• Default: 60

• Description: The cycle time in which the collected `snapshots` will be sent to the server for further usage in the cloud.
